ABOUT IAN SAUNDERS

Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Beverley and Holderness

I have been married for 25 years to my wife Beverley and have two grown up children Hayley and Richard. I currently live in Sheffield (where I was born) and have been a Councillor for Beighton Ward on Sheffield City Council since 1985. I have spent all my working life in the telecommunications industry after serving in the Royal Navy straight from school. My main political interests are: education and children services, health, local government (in particular planning) and the Armed Forces.

Having been selected as the Labour Party's Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Beverley & Holderness I am now getting to know the area and to meet many of its people. I am looking to move to the area as soon as I can find a suitable property.

I can be seen on many Saturday mornings doing a street stall in one or other of the main towns seeking people's opinion on local and national matters. At other times I will be out door to door canvassing in order to meet as many local people as possible and to listen to their concerns.
